Venda Belief System
The Venda belief system is mythical. Water is very important to the Venda, and they have many scare sites within their region where they conjure up their ancestral spirit (zwidudwane). Zwidudwane are water spirits, who are split in half. Half of their bodies lives in the spirit world, and the other half live in the real world. The Venda people have a ritual in which they give them food, because they’re unable to grow food underwater.

One of the most sacred sites of the Venda is Lake Fundudzi, which is fed by Mutale River. They are some suspicions made by the Venda people, that they hear the Tshikhona song(The Venda national chant) although no one appears to be there. The lake does not have an outlet.

The area where the Venda people live is filled with dangerous Crocodile. The Venda believe that the brain of the Crocodile is very poisonous, they do not hunt them for food.
